Post-cancer is planting seeds on a sunshiney day in February when you have no idea when, or if, the winter will return.
It’s the cautious excitement of tiny green shoots of life springing out of the dirt. It’s letting your seedlings toughen in the cold breeze and sun, but knowing you still have to bring them in at night. They’re fragile, after all.
It’s making plans and reading seed catalogs and wondering if this frost was truly the last one we’ll have.
Post-cancer is a February garden.
